Obituary for Connie Sandilands

At the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, Ottawa on Thursday, January 3, 2019, Margaret Constance Sandilands of Lancaster, age 97 years, WW 2 Vet (Army Nursing Corps). Beloved wife of the late John W. Sandilands, loving mother of Rod Sandilands (Gisele De Kinder) of St. Lambert, Quebec, Linda Mitchell of Ottawa, Scott Geddes (Val Renwick) of Cambridge, Ontario and pre-deceased by daughter Karen Speers (Gary). Cherished grandmother of Natalie, Michelle, Sondra (Greg), Mary, Jordan (Tristan) and great-grandmother of Grace, Ben, Will, Hannah, Nick, Logan and Zosia. Predeceased by her brothers John, George and Donald, by her sisters Norma Fisher, Audrey Fisher and Sheila Field, and by her parents Ben and Mary Catherine Snider (nee Wightman). Known for her indomitable spirit at the Perley Rideau, the Irrepressible Connie lived life to the fullest while contributing to woodworking and pottery in her beloved art studio. She thrived on all that was offered at The Perley and was surrounded by the most wonderful folks including her fellow WW 2 Veterans, many of whom sustained her during her final days. Visitation will commence at 11h30 am followed by a service at 12h00 pm in the Chapel of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 46 Oak St. Lancaster (613-347-3629) on Friday, January 25, 2019. Spring Interment will be at the Williamstown United Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial Donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Connie, a tree will be planted in a Memory Woods.
