A Family Owned and Operated Establishement since 1890.

The origin of our firm began in Maxville in the 1890's by a gentleman named, Johnson Hoople.  Mr. Hoople operated the Funeral Home until his grandson, Clark Hoople took over the operation in the 1930's.  Arnold C. Munro started working for Mr. Hoople in 1943.  Mr. Munro worked for Mr. Hoople until 1962 when he decided to open a Funeral Home in his own home.  In 1965, Arnold Munro then purchased the Hoople Funeral Home and it the became known as Munro Funeral Home.  Arnold's two sons then joined him in 1971 and 1978.  They then purchased the Morris Funeral Home in Alexandria and a new company was formed bearing the name, Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Inc.

In 1994 the Munro's purchased the McArthur Bros. & McNeil Funeral Home in Lancaster, 20 Kms, south of Alexandria.

Family Ownership continues...

On January 31, 2011 Katherine MacDonald joined her husband Alistair MacDonald (who had co-owned the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes since 2002) in sole ownership of Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., Alexandria, Maxville and Lancaster. Together with their family, the MacDonald's are commited to providing dignified and affordable funeral services to the families of Glengarry and Stormont.
